Makeup artist
@bonkersmakeup reveals the importance of selfexpression, the inspiration behind her work with Gucci Beauty and an unexpected makeup trick.
Why do you think self-expression is particularly important in this time?
Selfexpression to me is freedom. Because there is only one of you and I find it’s fantastic to be able to discover who you are or what version of yourself you want to be through the amazing art of makeup. Expressing ourselves is all we have to show our uniqueness and doing it through a creative process, using what is innately within you, is a gift.
How did @bonkersmakeup come to life?
Believe it or not, I’ve never had a makeup account before @bonkersmakeup! Not sure why, I guess I’m old school! Then suddenly the pandemic hit and I had more time on my hand! I found myself experimenting with quirky shapes on the lips and doing makeup looks a little out of the ordinary. Initially it just kept me from thinking too much at the time and I was using it almost as a form of meditation. I was taking photos of these make up looks and then I created the account, the name came up instantly. It’s a great community I’ve met so many amazing and incredibly talented people, I’m so grateful for all the support and kind words I receive.
What inspired your work for Gucci Beauty?
I always thought that Gucci was self-expression to the max. I explored different shapes and textures and had fun with the incredible range of colors.
What is an interesting makeup trick you can share with the Gucci Beauty community?
One thing that I’ve always done since the very start of my career is to mix. Combining products together to create new colors, new textures: unique results. So my advice to everyone is to have fun and to look beyond the ordinary.
