The 2022 LACMA Art+Film Gala

Now in its eleventh year presented by Gucci, the event honored artist Helen Pashgian as well as director Park Chan-wook, and hosted a performance by Elton John.  

Committed to showcasing a multitude of art histories, LACMA exhibits and interprets works of art from new and unexpected points of view that are informed by the California region’s rich cultural heritage and diverse population. Finding commonality with the museum’s vision, for the past 12 years through the Art+Film Gala, Gucci has supported the museum, particularly underwriting the initiative to make film more central to LACMA’s curatorial programming. 

This year, the event hosted by LACMA trustee Eva Chow and Leonardo DiCaprio honored Helen Pashgian, a visual artist from the California Light and Space movement, and Park Chan-wook, a director from South Korea known for his dramatic films such as ‘Joint Security Area.’ Bringing together their two unique perspectives, the event progresses the dialogue between art and film that LACMA pursues. A variety of guests came out in Gucci to show their support of the gala’s mission, including Elton John who performed a special concert during the event, as well as Creative Director Alessandro Michele and President and CEO of Gucci Marco Bizzarri.

Further portraying the House’s kaleidoscopic universe, from art and film to food, chef Mattia Agazzi and pastry chef Tamara Rigo from Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura Beverly Hills envisioned the menu for the night, which included the signature tortellini in Parmigiano Reggiano sauce reinterpreted for the occasion, as well as a selection of mini dessert amuse-bouche, including pistachio choux decorated with the Gucci Osteria star eye motif to end the evening.
