Lined with lichen-covered tombs from an ancient world, Gucci will show the Cruise 2019 collection on the Promenade Des Alyscamps
The site is the final resting place of notable citizens sent to be buried in this prestigious Roman cemetery from the 4th century A.D.. At dusk on May 30th, the tree-lined promenade will be the setting for Alessandro Michele’s men’s and women’s collection. Inspired by the Autumn light of Alyscamps, Vincent Van Gogh painted four scenes of Alyscamps in October 1888. The historical necropolis is found in Arles, a city on the Rhône River in Provence, once a provincial capital of Rome with remains from that era including an amphitheatre which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
