Yuko Higuchi continues her creative conversation with the House through a Japan-exclusive capsule collection featuring her fantastical illustrations.
Yuko Higuchi does not seek out inspiration, rather the ideas for her whimsical characters and worlds arise in her own imagination. She tells the House, “The things I want to draw build up in my mind day by day, and rather than thinking very carefully about what I want to draw, I let my hands freely do it like a child.” The dream-like quality of her work becomes ever-more apparent in the Yuko Higuchi x Gucci capsule collection, available exclusively in Japan. The special selection includes the House’s iconic bags, such as the Gucci Diana and Bamboo 1947, silk scarves, pillows, and ready-to-wear enriched with floral patterns or punctuated with anthropomorphic cats—a signature motif of Higuchi’s.
The capsule collection continues the creative dialogue that began in Gucci's Spring Summer 2018 collection with two prints and celebrates her exhibition, ‘Yuko Higuchi exhibition CIRCUS FINAL END’, supported by the House at Mori Arts Center Gallery in Tokyo. The Japan-exclusive items will be available
in selected Gucci boutiques and online.
In occasion of the capsule collection, Gucci’s official LINE account will also gift exclusive stickers drawn by Yuko Higuchi to its followers. In addition, those connected to the LINE account can download a special digital wallpaper.
