There, Guccio observed the comings and goings of the international jet set and the beautiful luggage that accompanied them. He came into contact with the magic of travel at a time when it was synonymous with discovery, acting as a bridge between diverse cultures.
Upon his return to Florence, inspired by his experience at The Savoy and his travels, Guccio decided to open his own artisanal luggage atelier in 1921. Nods to the House’s origins are infused throughout its narrative, as seen in a playful porter that appeared on brass tags on Gucci luggage from the ‘30s.
Today, the shared narrative of Gucci and The Savoy continues through the Gucci Savoy collection, a line of heritage-infused trolleys, trunks, duffle bags, and other accessories, whose name pays homage to the connection, and through a special ephemeral space within the storied hotel that will remain open until January 15, 2023.
The space, entitled Gucci Valigeria and located in the Upper Thames Area of the hotel, showcases a curated selection from the Gucci Savoy collection as well as pieces from the Gucci Lifestyle line, ranging from travel sets and stationery to pet accessories. All items will be available for purchase at The Savoy through an omnichannel experience.
