Alessandro Michele’s new Gucci Bamboo 1947 handbag design debuts in videos, images and illustrations created by talented artists and photographers from around the world who were asked to share their personal vision of the renowned style.
Love, an oneiric dimension, a visceral sense of story and allegory wrapped in a well drafted package, universal emotions and unrealistic worlds – these are just some of the messages that the creators aim to convey through their artworks.
Through unexpected videos, abstract photographs, illustrations, cartoons, a curated selection of artists depicts the Gucci Bamboo 1947 handbag—a new design by Alessandro Michele and part of the House’s signature Beloved lines.
In 1947 – amidst Italy’s post-war era in which traditional raw materials were difficult to come by – the enterprising founder, Guccio Gucci, with the help of the House’s visionary Florentine artisans, decided to use the lightweight and durable bamboo for the handle of a purse, thus forging an instant emblem. In the decades to come, the Bamboo Bag became a fixture among Hollywood’s leading ladies and the international jet set, consolidating the style’s status as an innovative icon around the world.
