In Focus: Yuzuru Hanyu Lensed by Jiro Konami

Gucci Ginza Gallery presents a photo exhibition dedicated to figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu from May 22nd.

In March 2024, Gucci welcomed Yuzuru Hanyu as the Brand Ambassador. As one of the results of the collaborations between the House and the figure skater, this new exhibition has been conceived. The exhibition will showcase never-before-seen photographs of Yuzuru Hanyu newly taken by a New York-based global photographer Jiro Konami. Konami faced Hanyu as the subject to capture him focusing on the theme, of his "now as he is.”

Jiro Konami commented, "The excitement of photography lies in how I momentarily react to the subject’s personality and thoughts. And as I continue to face the subject, our relationship is changing. That's why the expressions are completely different from the first shot to the following ones." True to his words, captured in the essence of the present moment in each photo, Yuzuru Hanyu unveils various emotions as if he were a different person, showing various range of expressions from seductive gazes to unguarded true faces and even dynamic movements. Through these photographs showing him as if he were right in front of you, you will be able to converse with Yuzuru Hanyu who has never been seen before.
