A Love Story Presented by Gucci
To celebrate the power of love this Valentine’s Day, the House has collaborated with artist Ariana Papademetropoulos to create a limited-edition zine.
In a ‘60s surrealist and pop style graphic novella directed by Ariana Papademetropoulos and captured by Alexandra Cabral, a fairy’s affairs of the heart become a showcase for the Valentine’s Day 2022 capsule collection alongside the Gucci Aria, beauty, fine jewelry and fashion jewelry collections. Played by Ariana herself, this dreamy fairy leaves her long-time companion, a giant named Haatepah, to find a love her own size. With one last kiss, she sets off to the Land of Tiny Creatures, a blissful place full of precious garments and beautiful people. Journeying through this wondrous world, she finds her special someone, but only in the most unlikely of matches—a reminder that love has the power to conquer all differences, big or small.
Playing a subtle role in the narrative background, and a key one in the ‘Intermission’, is the Valentine’s Day 2022 collection. Heart-shaped chain bags, as well as ones recalling classic popcorn cartons, evoke a romantic spirit. Printed with a message of ‘LOVE’, shoes and scarves become expressions of affection, while pink Padlock and Petite Marmont bags accented with tone-on-tone strawberry and cherry details enrich the whimsical mood of this fairytale.
